Catherine Martin asked me to share a few thoughts about Quiet time during a video conference at Ministry for Women tomorrow. Here's my trial run with my little speech.
I don't know why the silliest frame from the entire video is chosen as the photo here. I'm not really that cheesy. Really.
Thank-you for sharing. I especially appreciated your thoughts on focus, praying about a word or thought and looking for it in scripture. I can see where that would be helpful to not just make quiet time a check list. Why do you have a quiet time? What makes this devotional time (obviously) so important to you? Good Job!-Lissa
ReplyDeleteGood questions, Lissa. I see another post is needed! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ruth for the great video. I love your practical tips and that you are embracing this season of life that God has you in. It's going to be wonderful to have all of eternity to sit at the Lord's feet! God bless you as you continue to serve Him! ><> Debra
ReplyDeleteGreat Video!

Great job, Ruth! I smiled at the bathroom comment - so true! :)
ReplyDeleteI am very slow getting out of bed in the mornings but have found that taking some time to visit Biblegateway.com from my laptop, before clicking on my email, is a great way to start the morning. Sometimes I fall into patterns where I don't make it my first stop (like this morning!) and I end up eating away precious time and neglecting God's Word. Thanks for the reminder to get my priorities in order again. {hug}
Ruth, I love your video! Thanks for sharing your thoughts about quiet time. I tend to have to spread mine throughout the day also. Morning prayer, midday bible reading, devotion and non-fiction faith-building reading while the kids nap, and when time allows I personalize everything done that day by writing. There's the verse in Eph 6:18 that encourages us to pray at all times in all kinds of prayer, that is one that fits the why and how of why I do it that way :)
