Praising through the Bible in the Desert

This verse jumped out at me in today's reading (Deuteronomy 8:1-23:11):
Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep His commands. (Deut. 8:2)

I'm not exactly wandering the desert and living in tents like the Israelites, but I do live in a desert, and I praise God for bringing me and my family here seven years ago. Here, away from the landscape we love, away from our friends and family, we have had to depend on God and grow ever closer to Him. And through surrendering to the Lord's plan for us, we have found a deep contentment and joy here.
